| September 2008. The 1/2-inch thick,
124-page Blue Book of Colt Dates of Manufacture,
a landmark and comprehensive reference work of great value to
collectors, dealers, arms enthusiasts and law enforcement agencies and
personnel, worldwide. Based on Wilson's The Book of Colt
Firearms
and tables in his official histories of Colt firearms, as well as on
fresh research principally by Kathleen Hoyt, Colt Historian, this new
volume is the last word on the subject. Including a foreword by Wilson,
remembering his initial visit to the Colt factory, 1959, when in
Hartford to be interviewed for a position as a summer intern (1960) at
the Wadsworth Atheneum museum of art. That visit led to his
eventual appointment - at the age of 23 - as Curator of Firearms at the
Atheneum, and to publication of two of his earliest book titles,
Samuel Colt Presents A Loan Exhibition of Percussion Colt Revolvers
and The Arms Collection of Colonel Colt. The Blue
Book includes a detailed index, and a color cover inspired by The
Book of Colt Firearms 3rd edition.
